To My Vacarius Cruisers,
Well, what can i say? Last cruise just sailed right by us and now we are well in to our second voyage back.
The only place we menage to slip a shore for an hour or so was at Marvelous Monemvasia. This was my first call ever to this Gibraltal- like rock island, situated on the southern coast of Greece's Peloponnese and i felt i had to see it and of course, our guest always expect us to have seen it so that we can answer their question.
Over 300 of our guests took the day trip to Sparta to visit archeological site which is about 80 km drive away. While others, exhausted by wonderful day in Myokonos,Kusadasi and Santorini decided to stay home. But those exhausted travelers who found the energy to step ashore were delighted with what a waited them close by.
There is a,so called "new '' village of Monemvasia, where we tender our guest to.However this is not The Monemvasia. The original, historical spot is very unnassuming from where the ship anchor. There is a causeway that connect the main land with the island and from the ship you can really only see the distance row of car that are parked a long the road because there are no road inside the ancient walled town
Happy Cruising,
